IL-6 (Interleukin-6) Human Recombinant, E. coli
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is an essential cytokine as a B-cell differentiation factor, and inducing the maturation of B cells into antibody-producing cells. IL-6 has pyrogenic properties and serves as an important signal molecule between leucocytes. The biological activities of IL-6 are mediated by its dimeric membrane receptor. The IL-6 receptor, present in a membrane-bound and in a soluble form. Either of them bind IL-6 and then interact with the second subunit of the receptor complex, glycoprotein 130. IL-6 binding leads to the activation of multiple intracellular signal transduction pathways including Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription. IL-6 is now known to participate in neurogenesis, and in the response of mature neurons and glial cells in normal conditions and following a wide arrange of injury models. IL-6 was also important in the regulation of hepatocytes, hematopoietic progenitor cells, the skeleton, the cardiovascular system, the placenta and endocrine systems.
Full Name | Interleukin-6 Human Recombinant |
Synonyms | IFN-b2, B cell differentiation factor, BCDF, BSF-2, HPGF, HSF, MGI-2, B-cell stimulatory factor 2, Interferon beta-2, Hybridoma growth factor, CTL differentiation factor, CDF, IL-6, HGF. |
Source | E. coli |
Amino Acid Sequence | The sequence of the N-terminal amino acids was determined to be Met-Pro-Val-Pro-Pro. |
Molecular Weight | Interleukin-6 Human Recombinant was produced in E. coli as a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 184 amino acids and shown to have a molecular mass of 21kDa. |
Purity | >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC |
Endotoxin | Endotoxin level was found to be ≤ 0.1 ng/µg(1EU/µg) by a LAL gel clot method. |
Formulation | Lyophilized from a 1xPBS, filtered with a membrane (0.2 µm). |
Reconstitution | To reconstitute the protein, add sterile water to the lyophilized protein and make a preparation with a concentration ≥0.1mg/ml. The preparation can be diluted into other appropriate buffers if necessary. Cautions should be taken to avoid bacterial growth, resulting in potential contamination with endotoxin. |
Stability | Once lyophilized, the protein is stable at room temperature (≈3 weeks) and at -20°C (≥ 2 years from the date of receipt).Upon reconstitution, it can be stored at 4°C (≤ 7 days) or at -20°C (≤ 6 months). For long term storage, please store at -80°C and the addition of a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is recommended.Avoid frequent freeze-thaw cycles. |
Biological Activity | The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of murine 7TD1 cells is ≤ 0.1 ng/ml, corresponding to the specific activity of 1.0 x 10,000,000 Units per mg. |
Usage | FOR LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. Not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. |
